REVIEW #391 Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

Having lost his place in the world, Deadpool lives a normal and mundane life, that’s until he is pulled back into heroism to save his world from extinction.

Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and everyone at Marvel have created a wonderful third movie that tops its predecessors and then some! The film pays homage to Logan in the most Deadpool way possible and the handling of it was really well done. It’s fair to say the chemistry between the highly anticipated duo is off the charts, both in a comedic way but also in the slightly more heartfelt moments too. Is it a perfect movie? I wouldn’t say so, I personally wasn’t a fan of Matthew Macfayden’s character, the comedic portrayal just wasn’t for me. The humour in Deadpool is truly authentic ribbing, it’s the humour you and your mates use to rip each other apart, and enjoy it all the same. But with Matthew’s character, it just felt silly, oddly out of place and slightly out of tune with the rest of the humour on display. That being said, the rest of the movie is hilarious and Reynolds held no prisoners, with jokes about divorce, DC, Marvel and everything in between. People, including myself, thought the trailer looked bland but really that’s just one particular area in the movie (which fits the narrative), the rest of the settings are full of colour, varying landscapes and a pretty diverse colour palette. They saved the best parts for the movie and the trailer doesn’t reveal much at all, except for a cameo which they had no business revealing before release! Above all, we finally got Wolverine and Deadpool together in their classic costumes!

Overall (8.3/10)

Thanks for reading.
