REVIEW #423 In Bruges (2008)

In Bruges

Synopsis

Two hit men are hiding in Bruges after an unsuccessful job and what seems like a trip full of sightseeing and laying low, turns sour when one of them receive troubling instructions.

My Review

In Bruges is yet another example of Martin McDonagh’s brilliance, hilariously funny but beautifully tragic, with captivating performances from every actor. It’s another film I wish I watched years sooner! Rey is such an amazing character, brutally honest and perfectly executed by Colin Farrell. Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes representing the supporting cast ensures the film captures the essence of British and Irish humour, it’s everything that’s great about our comedy and our language. It might be set in Bruges but it certainly made me think of home! The sheer amount of impressive duologues in this film speaks volumes to the writing, utilising a small yet impressive cast to create one of the best films of the 2000’s.

My Rating: 9 out of 10
