The Good Dinosaur

Synopsis

A young dinosaur called Arlo, gets separated from his family during a storm and he has to form an unlikely friendship with a feral child in order to get home.

My Review

The adventure of Arlo and Spot is incredibly simple yet effective, a classic story we’ve seen countless times before in one way or another but it provides a great opportunity for character growth, whilst simultaneously pushing the story of friendship. The animation for the natural elements of the film were amazing but I was a little disappointed with the overall designs for the dinosaurs, it felt very elementary level and looked kind of out of place against the beautifully designed environment around them. Nonetheless it had a lot of heart and flipped the usual presentation of certain species completely on its head, which made for interesting storytelling.
