REVIEW #443 The Studio (Season 1)
The Studio
Synopsis
Matt Remick is the newly appointed head of Continental Film Studios, desperate for celebrity approval, Matt and his team navigate the difficulties of the film industry.
My Review
Under Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s direction, The Studio becomes the latest Apple TV success story. A hilariously funny, well produced TV show that utilises its short episode format to give life to the real experiences with movie studios and their executives. The subject matter touches upon some of the themes that have plagued the industry in recent times and rightly shows the audience just how ridiculous these topics can be. The core cast are brilliant and the inclusion of actors and directors who play these outlandish version of themselves, was a stroke of brilliance and only heightened the humour. In a comedy such as this it’s often easy to overlook the cinematography and camera work, each scene was a one shot take and even going one step further and creating an entire episode in one continuous take with episode 2 ‘The Omer’. But beyond that, the production value as a whole was really high quality. It’s no surprise Apple have already announced season 2 and I can’t wait to see which special guests they have for the follow up!
My Rating: 9 out of 10
