REVIEW #451 Ironheart (Season 1)
Ironheart (Season 1)
Synopsis
Expelled from MIT for troublesome behaviour, genius Riri Williams returns to Chicago and soon finds herself caught up in things her iron suit might not be able to get her out of.
My Review
Ironheart unfortunately signifies another miss for Marvel television, a small limited series of just 6 episodes that failed to hook me on its story and its lead protagonist. Far too often throughout the show, I had to drag myself through the episodes and despite sporadic bursts of captivating flare, I worry that the only thing ‘memorable’ about Ironheart is the introduction of the long awaited Mephisto. Annoyingly, I’ve seen many people labelled racist for not enjoying it, but the truth is, it’s just not that great! Riri as a character, wasn’t a likeable one in my opinion, an interesting arc but where Tony Stark had charming arrogance, his MCU heir failed to deliver such charisma. I did enjoy the iron suit merging with magic and I wish that we witnessed more of it. On another positive note, the final twist, a deal with Mephisto, sets up a super exciting path for Riri and despite not enjoying this particular story, I find myself excited for her next appearance in the MCU.
My Rating: 5 out of 10
Thanks for reading.
