The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It
Synopsis
When Arne Johnson brutally kills his landlord, his claims of demonic possession were not only historic in a court of Law, but also worthy of the attention of the Warrens.
My Review
The Devil Made Me Do It marks a slight shift in tone from The Conjuring franchise, incorporating tropes from the thriller genre and providing more of a mystery element to the films overarching storyline. Now, I usually really enjoy it when Horror movies blend genres like this, but unfortunately Michael Chaves didn’t quite get that balance right and the film fell a little flat. This was a rewatch and unfortunately my rating decreased since my first viewing, it lacked the freaky nature that the first film captured so brilliantly and replaced it with plot points that were nowhere near as captivating. Once again, I loved seeing Ed and Lorraine Warren working together and that’s down to Wilson and Farmiga carrying the film with their chemistry! Watchable sure, but I didn’t have as much fun with this one compared to the other films.
My Rating: 5.7 out of 10
