The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025)
The Conjuring: The Last Rites
Synopsis
In 1986, just when Lorraine and Ed Warren thought their paranormal investigation days were behind them, they’re called back into the action in Pennsylvania.
My Review
Last Rites opts for a multilayered approach to its finale film, spreading focus between the paranormal and the Warren Family dynamic. On one hand, this provided plenty of heart warming moments but on the other hand, is that really what we come to a Conjuring film to see? I guess that depends on your personal tastes, but for me, it ultimately resulted in the film not specialising in any one area and it therefore felt rather lacklustre in its final execution. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga still captivate as the co-leads and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy every bit of screen time they share together. Although there was more paranormal horror compared to The Devil Made Me Do It, it still didn’t quite live up to the first two instalments and it was still a world away from the iconic debut film. I still find enjoyment from the film, it’s watchable and is what I’d call ‘dumb fun’, switch off and just try not to overanalyse it!
