My Review

Blue Moon is Ethan Hawke’s world and we are all just living in it! The actor drops a masterful performance and combined with Richard Linklater’s direction, creates a captivating film set entirely within the confines of a New York bar. A one location film requires wonderful dialogue and incredible performances and fortunately we get both! The audience is at the whim of Lorenz Hart, latched on to each and every word, we, like the other characters, are extras in Hart’s story, along for the entertaining ride as we glimpse a snippet of his life, a man so full of false bravado and positivity, slowly eroded by the nights events as the vulnerability and desperation seeps through. Blue Moon is a creative character exploration that leaves you desperate for more, a theatre performance put to film.

My Rating: 8.5 out of 10
