My Review
The Running Man might not be a polished article but many would struggle to not find enjoyment from its charismatic performances and fun action sequences. Glen Powell always delivers in this type of role, he knows how to capture audiences and is made for blockbuster action movies such as this. But then you also have a brilliant supporting cast in Colman Domingo, Michael Cera and Josh Brolin, all of which executed their roles perfectly, enhancing the themes of the film through their performances. However, my biggest issue was the dialogue, at times it felt very surface level and a little cheesy, which was rather surprising considering the screenplay was written by Edgar Wright. Despite having fun with the film and having an appreciation for the near-future dystopian world it brought to life, it lacked the emotional punch to really get me invested in these characters. The conclusion also felt a little disjointed, pulling us in too many directions to really stick the landing. A typical popcorn flick I would say!
My rating: 6.8 out of 10
