My Review

Primate might not reinvent the wheel of Horror but it does provide an entertaining creature feature that never shies away from the consequences and aftermath of a chimpanzee rampage on humans. It’s unapologetically brutal and it keeps its formula simplistic, playing to its strengths and never pretending to be something it isn’t and I came away having enjoyed my experience. To be honest I tend to find gore fest horror films pretty distasteful, often opting for that approach for the sake of putting blood to screen, but the gore made complete sense here, it looked super realistic and without it, the film would have felt pretty disappointing. This is what I’ve been asking for in the Jurassic Park universe for years, real, vivid consequences from brutal creature attacks! The intelligence of Ben the ape added a different facet to the film, providing the opportunity for some really creepy scenes that worked well on screen.

My Rating: 6.5 out of 10

Thanks for reading.
