REVIEW #141 Jackass Forever (2022)

Jackass Forever is the latest and perhaps the final Jackass film from the original cast as they reunite to pull off the craziest and funniest stunts. From snake bites to taking on live bears, they are certainly upping the stakes!

THE CAST

Almost all of the original cast returned for Jackass Forever, with the most notable exclusion being Bam Margera. They certainly haven’t lost their bravery and their humour because, despite their age, they all committed to some of the biggest stunts yet. They also introduced a few new members to the cast, introducing the first female member in Rachel Wolfson, Zack Holmes, Sean ‘Poopies’ McInerney and Jasper Dolphin. They were all great and hit the ground running, they seemed unfazed by any of the stunts! It looks like they were setting up the next generation of Jackass, so I would imagine the next project would be the new cast with perhaps a couple of appearances from the OG’s.

THE STUNTS

Given the nature of the film I thought best to change the storyline section to ‘The Stunts’ instead. Honestly they had some of the best bits yet and it had the entire cinema in hysterics. My personal favourite was when they told two members at a time that they were about to watch Knoxville do a rattle snake stunt but instead locked the pair of them in a pitch black room and messed with them… bad. Pretending the rattlesnake had got loose just to make it even scarier for them. Although that sounds so simple it was hilarious and had me in tears. The opening and end credits has become the iconic parts of Jackass and they absolutely delivered, I don’t want to reveal them because that’s the part a lot of audiences look forward to most but they were excellent.

CINEMATOGRAPHY & SPECIAL EFFECTS

I did want to keep this category just because if you watch the original films the camera quality was often pretty terrible, partly because they had to hide the cameras but also because they had a relatively low budget for the first film too. That quality has definitely improved, it did make  it easier to watch. You could tell they also had a larger budget, after all, Jackass has become so popular that they needed to invest more money just to make the film better than it’s predecessors!

OVERALL (9/10)

I have recently watched all of the Jackass films again and for sure they are all hilarious but Jackass Forever has to be my favourite! It delivered a huge dose of nostalgia seeing the cast all reunite again. The originals were iconic and had a whole generation shouting “My name is… and welcome to Jackass” as they done some stupid things in their garden. This film sets up the next generation so hopefully it continues. The stunts are just as big and just as funny, then you have the better cameras and increased budget which just make it a great film. It’s a shame Bam couldn’t reconcile with the group and join them but it didn’t hinder the film at all. The cinema was packed too, so clearly it’s still immensely popular!

Thanks for reading.
