REVIEW #393 Brothers (2009)
SYNOPSIS
Whilst on tour in Afghanistan, Sam’s Helicopter is shot down, leaving his screw up brother to take care of his family in his absence.
REVIEW
With a leading cast of Toby Maguire, Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal, they put on fantastic performances, bringing to life a horrible scenario that presents a morality dilemma for the audience. I for one think the blossoming relationship between Tommy and Grace made sense, having believed Sam dead but you still can’t help but be pulled in multiple directions upon Sam’s return. The themes of military service and PTSD are explored well and they further contribute to the emotional ride the film takes you on. It’s a nice watch, one I’m glad I finally got around to, but I wouldn’t say it’s a great movie, nonetheless its storytelling does well to hook you in and keep you interested.
RATING: 7.5 out of 10
