REVIEW #394 The End We Start From (2023)

SYNOPSIS

When catastrophic floods displace large populations in the UK, submerging London, a new mum embarks on a dangerous journey to find refuge.

REVIEW

As a big fan of post apocalyptic movies, I was surprised I’d only just heard of this film! However, The End We Start from failed to peak my interest beyond the impressive performance from Jodie Comer. It’s a character driven story and one that gives Comer plenty of room to shine but unfortunately it just felt a little dull at times and the wider context of the environmental disaster just wasn’t convincing enough for me to believe the circumstances being presented on screen. One thing that works in its favour is having a new born baby in the mix because you’ll always be interested enough to root for the safety of the child and that in itself will keep you hooked! There’s a couple of appearances from other big actors too!

RATING: 6 out of 10
