REVIEW #401 Young Woman and The Sea (2024)

SYNOPSIS

Trudy Ederle, faces a series of trials and tribulations throughout her life and that continues as she pursues her dream of a Swimming career in the early 1900’s. Based on true events.

REVIEW

Young Women and The Sea is a heartwarming story that illustrates the struggles of being a woman in the early 1900’s and more specifically, a woman trying to make a career as an athlete. Daisy Ridley puts on a fine performance as the first woman to swim the English Channel and the dynamic between herself and Stephen Graham was excellent too, I just wish we got to see more of it! Unfortunately, as enjoyable as it was, the film is quite forgettable, struggling to find one particular component that makes it stand out amongst a genre full of amazing movies and for that reason, I fear it will be lost in the long list of sports biopics.

RATING: (7/10)

Thanks for reading.
