REVIEW #343 The Gentlemen (Season 1)

When Eddie, the wealthy Duke, inherits his families empire, he discovers its home to a huge weed empire and the proprietors aren’t going anywhere!

Guy Ritchie’s spin off series is a certified success! He keeps finding new, innovative ways to illustrate his iconic style on screen. Theo James is fantastic, leading the show by example as the tough skinned Duke, who hits the ground running in the criminal underworld. There is a wide variety of talented actors supporting him, from Kaya Scodelario to Ray Winstone and everyone in between. The story flows nicely and the pacing is pretty much perfect. It takes its time to flesh out the characters but keeps things fast enough to ensure the audience are on the edge of their seats. There are a couple of predictable moments which is the only real criticism I could find with the writing but nonetheless it’s left me desperate for a season 2!

Overall (8.8/10)

Thanks for reading.
